City

Capture Your City has reached Urban Lab, under the arcades of piazza Palazzo di Città. This photo contest, promoted every year by the Danish Architecture Center (DAC), invites participants to portray the city as they capture it in a given moment. This year is the ninth edition and the contest has been extended to an international public as a result of the project promoted by the New European Bauhaus DESIRE – An Irresistible Circular Society, with DAC, the City of Torino, Kairos and many other European institutions and organizations as main partners.

With the collaboration of MAO (Lubiana), CAMERA (Torino), Arcam (Amsterdam), Fabbrica del Vapore (Milano) and the City of Riga, the contest took place from 1^st March to 1^st May 2024 in the above-mentioned cities. Photography lovers from all over Europe were encouraged to participate and capture the cities’ new and more sustainable beauty.

Indeed, the theme of the exhibition, New Beauty, inspires us to see beauty both in “shiny and dull” parts of our cities, and in particular in those urban spaces where transformation pursues sustainability and circularity criteria.

The 56 pictures selected by a panel of international experts were displayed at DAC in Copenhagen in the summer, and now have reached Torino, in an exhibition organised by Urban Lab, following an initiative of the City of Torino.

The exhibition, held under the arcades of piazza Palazzo di Città, displays photos printed in a large format on banners hanging along the square perimeter.
