Urban Lab is working to renovate its headquarters in piazza Palazzo di Città. The new opening will be in October 2020. New installations, more contents and new access modes to tell the city that is changing in a smarter, broader and more accessible way, for a greater awareness of the criticalities and potentials of urban spaces.

In this way, Urban Lab aims at consolidating and strengthening its mission of collecting documents, spreading knowledge and promoting the debate about the city. A place where citizens, experts and operators can find information, meet and talk.

The physical and virtual tour will allow visitors to see the main resources of the territory, presented in three sections.

PAST Urban history will describe the last decades of the city, with an itinerary structured on different thematic levels, by crossing multiple sources and description methods.

NOW Geographies of Torino will showcase the main urban transformations in the city and in the neighbouring municipalities, through a large map and an interactive installation for the thematic consultation of maps and data, with pictures of the present, the evolution of phenomena throughout time and the ongoing dynamics.

SOON Work in progress will be dedicated to the projects and policies implemented in Torino and its metropolitan area: from the physical transformations to the intangible actions promoted by local authorities, public and private players.

A conference room and a small movie theatre (30 seats) will be provided for small festivals, meetings and debates.
