Urban Lab presents an exhibition curated with the Olivetti Historic Archive documenting how it is to live in a context of high architectural and urban value such as the Bellavista district in Ivrea, one of the main outcomes of the social and urban planning policies promoted by Olivetti after World War II.
The district, built on a project by Luigi Piccinato and Vittorio Girardi among 1957 and 1975 in the South-Western area of Ivrea, represents an interesting case study to observe issues and opportunities emerging from the relation between the need for conservation and valorization of the architectural and urban heritage and the daily needs of a community of inhabitants which is different from the original one.
The exhibition includes pictures by Paolo Mazzo, archival drawings and interviews to the inhabitants of Bellavista, aimed at documenting plans, projects and lifestyles in one of the main residential settlements by Olivetti.
The exhibition is realized with the contribution of CRT Foundation and the patronage of the City of Ivrea, in collaboration with Bellavista Viva in the framework of Contemporary Art Torino+Piemonte.
