Exchange with Clérmont Ferrand

A new international collaboration to tackle
the challenges of urban sustainable development

19nov 2020

In these last years, Urban Lab has been promoting the dialogue among city agencies, in Italy through the urban centers network, at international level through the European network of city agencies starting from the EUCANET project. In this perspective, in 2020 a new cooperation with the Agence d’Urbanisme Clérmont Metropole kicked off.

The French agency, in turn a member of the FNAU – Fédération Nationale des Agences d’Urbanisme, is an autonomous association at the service of the territory born to improve and refine,  from an objective point of view, the knowledge of local issues and confront in an innovative way the development of policies for a more sustainable city.

On 19 November, the entire staff of the Agence d’Urbanisme Clérmont Metropole, led by Director Charles Hazet, explained the research priorities and its own working tools (including the Social, Economic, Tourist, Housing and Mobility Observatories) in a virtual cross-border meeting with Urban Lab. Urban Lab in turn shared its renovated mission as hub at the service of the local system for the collection and mapping of metropolitan data, and lab for a better understanding of the city for a shared future planning.

The next steps of this collaboration, other than the formalization of the relationship with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding, involve the setting up of thematic working groups between the two organizations, in order not only to promote the exchange of experiences and know-how, but also to start new common projects at European level and enrich their network of international partners.
